Adam Rodriguez has turned down a role in Batman: The Dark Knight Rises for a part as a male stripper in Magic Mike.

The CSI: Miami star was lined up for a small role in Christopher Nolan's movie, but has had to pass on it due to a scheduling conflict.

"Unfortunately, I wasn't able to work on Dark Knight [Rises] because it directly conflicted with the shooting schedule for Magic Mike," Rodriguez told Celebuzz.

"There was no way around it. I'm sure it would have been an incredible experience, but I know it worked out for the best."

Magic Mike stars Channing Tatum as a veteran stripper taking new guy Alex Pettyfer under his wing.

Matthew McConaughey will appear as the owner of the club, Xquisite, with Rodriguez as one of the strippers alongside White Collar's Matt Bomer and True Blood's Joe Manganiello.

Rodriguez said that he was drawn to the Magic Mike script because it had "edge without taking itself too seriously and humour without making an ass of itself".

Magic Mike is due to be released on June 29, 2012 in the US. Details of any UK release are yet to be confirmed.
