Michael Fassbender's sex addiction drama Shame has received a new red band trailer.

The video teases a key sequence that bookends the film, where Fassbender's Brandon intensely stares at a woman (Lucy Walters) sitting across from him in a subway carriage.

Shame, Fassbender's second movie with director Steve McQueen after the critically-acclaimed Hunger, sees Brandon grapple with his sex dependency while his sister Sissy (Carey Mulligan) stays at his New York apartment.

Fassbender recently claimed that he will take a break from acting after the release of Ridley Scott's Prometheus.

He said: "After Prometheus, I just shut up shop. I'll give myself a break and I think everybody else. It's sort of like Fassbender overload here."

Shame will open in US cinemas in December and January 13 in the UK.
