JJ Abrams has reportedly identified Alice Eve as his first choice to play a new role in the upcoming Star Trek sequel.

The English actress has been named by Variety as the most likely to play a new character in the Star Trek universe, according to sources close to production.

Eve has previously starred in TV drama Entourage, as well as Sex and the City 2 and She's Out of My League.

She will next appear in 2012's The Raven and Men in Black III.

The Stark Trek sequel will be released in 3D on May 17, 2013. Filming is expected to start on January 15, 2012.

JJ Abrams recently named Benicio del Toro as his preferred choice to star in the sequel as a potential villain.
