'Sin City 2' script nearly complete, says Robert Rodriguez

Sin City 2's screenplay is near completion, according to director Robert Rodriguez.

The Machete filmmaker told The Playlist that he is adding final revisions to the movie's script in collaboration with William Monahan and Frank Miller.

The Departed writer Monahan joined the project in August to help shape the film's multiple stories.

"We have a script for Sin City 2," said Rodriguez. "We just needed to round it out a little bit more, brought in Bill to try and solve some things.

"Like before we had three different stories that we were trying to meld together and [Monahan] took a pass at it for a couple of weeks, and now Frank is doing his pass... We're pretty close. We might have it soon."

Rodriguez said at last summer's Comic-Con International that there was a possibility Sin City 2 could begin filming this year. However, that time frame is now considered highly unlikely.

Co-director Miller previously revealed that fan-favourite characters Marv and Nancy Callahan will both feature in the Sin City sequel.
