Deliverance star Bill McKinney has died at the age of 80.
The actor, who served as Clint Eastwood's sidekick in a number of Western pictures, passed away from oesophagus cancer yesterday (December 1).
According to a post of his official Facebook page, McKinney died at Valley Presbyterian Hospice in San Fernando, California.
"He was...still strong enough to have filmed a commercial two weeks prior to his passing," the message read. "And he continued to work on his biography with his writing partner."
Other titles in McKinney's filmography include original Rambo movie First Blood and The Green Mile. His most notable role of late was in 2010 romantic comedy How Do You Know, where he starred alongside the likes of Jack Nicholson and Reese Witherspoon.
McKinney is survived by his son, Clinton.
