William Hurt in talks for Stephenie Meyer's 'The Host'

The actor is in line to play the role of Jeb in Andrew Niccol's adaptation of the Twilight author's first book outside of her bestselling series, reports Entertainment Weekly.
The story centres on an invasion of aliens that possess the bodies of mankind.
Saoirse Ronan has been cast in the starring role as Melanie Stryder, a freedom fighter who has been possessed by one of the creatures.
Hurt is wanted for the role of her uncle Jeb, an eccentric man who first warns of the impending invasion.
Max Irons has been cast as love interest Jared Howe in the Host movie, opposite Jared Howe as rival Ian.
The Host is due to begin shooting in February. It is scheduled for release on March 29, 2013.
