The actor is in talks to reunite with his Hugo co-star Asa Butterfield in the sci-fi thriller, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Kingsley is said to be considering the part of a war hero in Ender's Game, which is adapted from a 1985 Orson Scott Card science fiction novel.
The novel and its sequels have also been turned into various Marvel Comics miniseries.
True Grit actress Hailee Steinfeld is circling the part of Petra Arkanian, while Harrison Ford has also recently been linked with a starring role in the Summit Entertainment production.
Directed by X-Men Origins: Wolverine's Gavin Hood, Ender's Game is believed to be entering production in February 2012 ahead of a scheduled release date of March 15, 2013.
