The first trailer for Ridley Scott's new blockbuster Prometheus has debuted online.
The movie, about a team of scientists and explorers who find themselves stranded on a distant planet, is Scott's first science fiction offering since 1982's Blade Runner.
Noomi Rapace, Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender and Idris Elba star in Prometheus, which was originally conceived as a prequel to Scott's 1979 classic Alien.

Rapace recently told Digital Spy that her character Elizabeth Shaw is "more feminine" than Sigourney Weaver's Alien heroine Ripley.
"She has similarities with Ripley but she's more feminine, she's a bit more naive in the beginning," she said.
"She's a believer, she's full of faith, she's a scientist and archaeologist. She goes on this journey in space and she changes into a fighter, warrior and survivor. She's very much a typical Ridley Scott woman!"

Scott, who is filming Prometheus in 3D, noted that he will never work without the format again.
"It opens up the universe even for the small scenes," the filmmaker said, adding that he wanted to bring something new to the sci-fi genre.
"Robots and androids and replicants have become so much of the landscape, so you have to come up with something that hasn't been seen before," he explained. "You have to find a notion that makes something fresh."
Prometheus will open in cinemas on June 8.
