The Happy Feet Two actor is in line to take the lead role in the movie, reports MovieHole.
The film centres around a migraine sufferer who discovers that he has an aggressive form of cancer that will kill him in 90 minutes.
Richard Shepard was previously attached to the film, but currently the director's chair is empty.
The movie is a remake of 1998 Israeli film Mar Baum, which was directed by Assi Dayan.
Williams's work schedule has been quieter in recent years following his heart surgery.
The actor performed the role of penguins Ramon and Lovelace in Happy Feet Two, which also features Elijah Wood, Pink, Elizabeth Daily and Sofía Vergara and was released earlier in December.
