'Thor 2' eyes 'True Blood, 'Game of Thrones' directors?

Thor 2 directorial candidates have allegedly been shortlisted by Marvel Studios.

Heat Vision reports that the firm is courting True Blood and Game of Thrones helmer Daniel Minahan to replace Patty Jenkins on the movie.

Alan Taylor, whose directing credits include Homicide: Life on the Street and The Sopranos, is also said to be in the frame. Like Minahan, Taylor has also worked on Game of Thrones.

Jenkins exited Thor 2 earlier this month following "creative differences". No further details of her departure were divulged.

Marvel is also seeking a new writer for the project to succeed Don Payne, who has already drafted a treatment. John Collee (Happy Feet, Master and Commander: Far Side of the World), Robert Rodat (Falling Skies, Saving Private Ryan) and Roger Avary (Pulp Fiction, Beowulf) are among those shortlisted.

Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman and Tom Hiddleston, who led the cast of the original Thor, have confirmed that they are returning for the sequel.
