'Avengers' Scarlett Johansson: 'I'd love a gritty Black Widow film'

Scarlett Johansson has said that she is open to playing Black Widow in a Marvel spinoff film.

Johansson played Black Widow in Iron Man 2 and reprises the role in the upcoming Avengers movie.

"I love playing the Widow. I think she's got a very interesting past, a lot of storylines to explore, and certainly [producer] Kevin [Feige] loves that character," she told Superhero Hype.

"I think that Marvel has a very personal relationship with their fans, and I think if the fans want it, and the audience wants it, nothing's impossible.

"I would love to explore that option as well. Like I said, I love the character and it would be nice to see something nice and gritty."

The actress also revealed that she has "no idea" about whether she'll appear in Iron Man 3.

Johansson, who released her LP Anywhere I Lay My Head in 2008, has recorded a virtual duet with Dean Martin of the classic 'I'll Be Home For Christmas' for Martin's Christmas album.
