Winona Ryder joins 'The Iceman'

Based on an Anthony Bruno book titled The Iceman: The True Story of a Cold-Blooded Killer, the film centers on the relationship between a contract killer for the mob named Richard Kuklinski and his mentor.
Michael Shannon will play Kuklinski, while Chris Evans will portray his mentor. Meanwhile, the Star Trek actress will play Kuklinski's wife Deborah in the upcoming film, Deadline reports.
It was previously rumoured that Maggie Gyllenhaal was in contention for the part.
Evans recently signed on to the film to replace James Franco, who pulled out of the mafia biopic due to a reported disagreement over "key contractual issues".
The Iceman will be directed by Ariel Vromen and produced by a team including René Besson (Drive Angry, The Mechanic).
The movie is scheduled for a 2013 release.
