'Puss in Boots' leads Australian box office: Top 10 in full

Puss in Boots has topped the Australian box office chart upon its first week in cinemas.

The DreamWorks animated family movie - featuring the voices of Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek - made almost $3 million this week, knocking The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 from the top spot after three weeks.

Ensemble romantic comedy New Year's Eve is a new entry in second place with over $2.5 million in box office receipts, while Adam Sandler's comedy Jack and Jill had another strong week with over $1 million in box office takings.

Elsewhere, family film Arthur Christmas holds sixth place in the chart. This week's biggest mover is fantasy action movie Immortals, which slides down four places to eighth position.

In Time and We Need to Talk About Kevin drop out of the top ten, taking $106,351 and $75,207 this week respectively.
