'The Avengers' debuts new character pictures

The Avengers has debuted two new character banners showing Marvel's iconic superhero lineup.
Director Joss Whedon's forthcoming blockbuster brings together comic book heroes Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) on the big screen for the first time.
Chris Evans told Digital Spy in October that the ensemble have a lot of "growing pains" that need ironing out for the movie.
Discussing the responsibility of playing Captain America, Evans said: "It's a lot easier now. Now that we've gotten through the first wave of Captain America, the press and that madness and now we're into The Avengers, where I get to share some of the workload, it's become a lot easier."
The Avengers will open in theatres on May 4, 2012 worldwide.
