'The Avengers' to be released in 3D

Director Joss Whedon's forthcoming Marvel Comics blockbuster, due to open on May 4, 2012, will hit theatres in both 3D and standard 2D formats, the studio revealed on Thursday.
The Avengers brings together heroes from various comics, including Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) for the first time.
Chris Evans has confessed that he only recently got comfortable with his Captain America role and finds it exciting to work with the ensemble Avengers cast.
The Avengers debuted two new character banners last week, showcasing the film's lineup.
