'Haywire' Michael Fassbender 'wore padding' fighting Gina Carano

Gina Carano has revealed that she has always been "physical" her "whole life".

The former mixed martial arts fighter stars in Steven Soderbergh's action flick Haywire as a Covert Operative who attempts to get even with those who betrayed her during a mission.

"They were all fascinated by how I could handle myself," Carano told The New York Times. "But I've been physical my whole life. I have these big legs, and I've always been so strong. I was born this way."

In Haywire, Carano's character can be seen fighting various people including Michael Fassbender.

Fassbender also spoke about how strong Carano is. He shared to the newspaper: "I'm going to make myself look like a real wuss, but I was wearing padding. But she wouldn't. She was stubborn like that. I think she likes the bruising."

Soderbergh admitted that he built Haywire around Carano because she "can break people in half".

Haywire features a star-studded cast including Ewan McGregor, Bil Paxton, Channing Tatum, Antonio Banderas and Michael Douglas.

Haywire will be released on January 20, 2012.
