The 'You Belong With Me' singer is said to be negotiating a deal to play Eponine in Tom Hooper's movie adaptation of the classic musical, according to BroadwayWorld.
Meanwhile, Seyfried is reportedly in talks to play the role of Cosette in the project.
The role of Eponine has been liked with Glee's Lea Michele, Scarlett Johansson and Evan Rachel Wood in the past.
The pair would join the growing cast including Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Helena Bonham Carter, Sacha Baron Cohen and Anne Hathaway.
Production is expected to begin in the spring, with a release date expected in December 2012.
The cast will sing 'live' during filming for the project, rather than pre-recording the songs.
