Bridesmaids director Paul Feig has suggested that a sequel could be made without Kristen Wiig.
Feig responded to reports that Universal will possibly produce Bridesmaids II even though Wiig has said that she's not interested in the project right now.

"If it had to happen, who knows?" Feig said of the sequel, adding to E! News: "Anything can happen. I'm an optimist."
Feig further suggested that it would be "very sad" if Wiig chose not to be involved in Bridesmaids II, but said he hopes that a follow-up will eventually be made.
"The only way we'd want to make it is if it's as good or better than the first one," the filmmaker commented. "If we could get a script together that was great... I would hope everyone would come back and do it. We have so much fun together."
Bridesmaids star Wendi McLendon-Covey said this week that she believes Wiig would appear in Bridesmaids II if she's given time to work on other projects first.
Melissa McCarthy has ruled out reprising her Bridesmaids role as Megan unless Wiig is involved.
Bridesmaids won the 'Best Comedy' prize at Thursday's Critics' Choice Movie Awards.
