A new television spot for Disney's John Carter movie has debuted.
The trailer sees Carter (Taylor Kitsch) arrive on Mars and encounter the beautiful princess Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins).
Based on the classic character created by Edgar Rice Burroughs (Tarzan), the John Carter stories follow the adventures of the titular hero, a human who is mysteriously transported to Mars and becomes embroiled in an epic conflict on a world known locally as 'Barsoom'.
Andrew Stanton's adaptation will also feature Willem Dafoe, Samantha Morton, Mark Strong, Ciaran Hinds, Dominic West, James Purefoy, Daryl Sabara, Polly Walker, Bryan Cranston and Thomas Hayden Church.
Hinds has said that the film will be a "difficult thing to pull off", adding that Stanton is a "very brilliant man".
John Carter opens in UK and US cinemas on March 9, 2012.
