The iconic French actress will be given the 39th annual 'Chaplin Award' - named after screen legend Charlie Chaplin - in April.
Deneuve is being honoured for helping to define the New Wave of French cinema in the 1960s as well as her enduring reputation as one of the world's most acclaimed actresses.
She has previously won two César Awards and been nominated for a BAFTA and an Oscar.
Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks, Sidney Poitier and Diane Keaton have been given the 'Chaplin Award' in past years.
Deneuve will receive the prize at a gala dinner on April 2 at Alice Tully Hall in New York City.
Last year, Deneuve said that she admires many of today's young actresses including Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz.
