Joel Edgerton has sold a screenplay to studio New Regency.

The Thing and Warrior actor has penned a script called One Night Stand, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The drama is said to centre on a man and woman in the aftermath of a one-night stand, with comedic moments in the story.

Edgerton is attached to executive produce but not star in the film.

He previously co-wrote the screenplay for crime-thriller The Square, which was directed by his brother Nash Edgerton.

The actor was named Australian GQ's 'Man of the Year' in 2011.

It was officially announced in January that Edgerton has joined the cast of Kathryn Bigelow's Osama Bin Laden film.
