The Blood Creek writer is working on a Ben Affleck-directed adaptation of Stephen King's epic apocalypse novel for Warner Bros, reports Vulture.
Kajganich was apparently brought to Affleck's attention by his work on a forthcoming adaptation of King's legendary, clown-based horror story It.
The Stand tells the story of a world ravaged by a biological weapon, in which the survivors wage war in a final battle between good and evil.
Kajganich previously worked on Nicole Kidman's 2007 outbreak film The Invasion.
The Stand was adapted into a four-episode television miniseries penned by King in 1994. Originally aired on ABC, its ensemble cast included Rob Lowe, Gary Sinise (Apollo 13, CSI: New York), Molly Ringwald (The Breakfast Club) and basketball player Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
The new movie version of The Stand is currently in development with a target release date of 2013.
