The helmer told CBM that a follow-up to the Will Smith-starring superhero comedy is likely to go ahead once scheduling conflicts are resolved.
"We've been talking about the sequel between us, Will Smith, [producers] Michael Mann and Akiva Goldsman and myself," he said.
"We're all interested, but we literally just have trouble getting into the same room at the same time. We did have a series of meetings last year and started to hash out an idea for sequel - and Will Smith actually had the idea - so I think it will happen, it's just a question of timing."
Hancock 2 appeared to be moving forward back in 2009, with Smith and Charlize Theron reportedly signing on to reprise their roles from the original. Screenwriters Adam Fierro and Glen Mazzara were also said to be on board.
Berg confirmed later that year that the sequel had run in to delays. It was rumoured to have been cancelled until the helmer's recent status update.
