Andy Serkis: 'Benedict Cumberbatch will be extraordinary in Hobbit'

By
Andy Serkis has said that Benedict Cumberbatch will be "extraordinary" in The Hobbit.

The Rise of the Planet of the Apes star explained that the design of the dragon Smaug is a closely guarded secret, but insisted that the Sherlock actor, who voices the dragon, will do a great job.

"Oh I can't give any secrets away," Serkis told MTV News when asked about the dragon. "Because it's still under wraps, it's still a secret character that is closely safe-guarded and is still in the design process."

However, he promised that the creature will be impressive.

"With an actor like Benedict Cumberbatch playing him, it will be extraordinary," Serkis said.

Cumberbatch previously declared he "can't wait" to start work on Peter Jackson's The Hobbit movies.

The Hobbit will be divided into two parts and released as The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey on December 14, 2012, and The Hobbit: There and Back Again on December 13, 2013.
