Brad Pitt has said that it won't be strange going up against close friend George Clooney in the 'Best Actor' race at the upcoming 84th annual Academy Awards.
Both men were recognised in the 'Best Actor' group when the Oscar nominations were revealed live this morning (Tuesday, January 24). Pitt was honoured for his work in Moneyball, while Clooney was named for The Descendants.

During an appearance on Today after the announcement was made, anchor Matt Lauer asked Pitt if it would be "a little strange" competing with Clooney on the night.
"Absolutely not!" replied Pitt. "It's more fun to have a friend there and no-one does it better than George. I say give him all the trophies and when you run out of trophies make some new ones and give him those too!"
Pitt added that he was "ecstatic" that both Moneyball and another of his films, The Tree Of Life, had been recognised by the Academy.
"I'm just so happy that both these films have been recognised," he said. "It will be pancakes for everyone this morning, I tell you that!"
