Martin Scorsese has said that he is "deeply honoured" by his 'Best Picture' and 'Best Director' Oscar nominations.
The filmmaker's latest movie Hugo picked up the two major nods for the Academy Awards today, alongside nine other mentions across the board.

Scorsese said: "I am deeply honoured to have been nominated by the Academy for my work on Hugo.
"Every picture is a challenge, and this one - where I was working with 3D, HD and Sacha Baron Cohen for the first time - was no exception."
He added: "It's a wonderful feeling to know that you've been recognised by the people in your industry. I congratulate my fellow nominees. It's an impressive list, and I'm in excellent company."
Scorsese won the 'Best Director' prize at the Golden Globes and has picked up a nomination at the BAFTAs.
Competing with Hugo in the 'Best Picture' category are War Horse, The Artist, Moneyball, The Descendants, The Tree of Life, Midnight in Paris, The Help and Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close.
Up against Scorsese for the 'Best Director' gong are Michel Hazanavicius, Alexander Payne, Woody Allen and Terrence Malick.
