Chris O'Dowd: 'I don't want a Bridesmaids sequel'

Chris O'Dowd has admitted that he doesn't think a Bridesmaids sequel should be made.
The IT Crowd star, who plays Officer Nathan Rhodes in Kristen Wiig's hit comedy, claimed that there have been no discussions about a follow-up.

"I've seen a lot of the guys since, but I honestly haven't heard anything about it," he told the BBC. "I personally think it might be best to leave it."
O'Dowd also revealed that the entire Bridesmaids team had been "taken aback" by the film's success.
"When we were filming, I knew what we were doing was funny - but I didn't see what the rest of the girls were up to because all of my scenes were just with Kristen," he explained.
"It wasn't until I watched it for the first time that I realised how funny it was."

While O'Dowd accepted that Bridesmaids had "opened doors" for him, he was disappointed by the calibre of the projects offered since.
"The only little problem is that it led to an awful lot of offers just to do rom-coms, none of which were as good as Bridesmaids," he said. "So I was conscious of trying to veer away from that, the easy transition of taking a bigger part in a big rom-com."
Wiig stated last week she has no plans to make a Bridesmaids sequel. However, recent reports have suggested that the film could go ahead without her.
