Javier Bardem has dropped out of Despicable Me 2.
The No Country For Old Men actor was in line to play the movie's villain before negotiations with Universal Studios broke down, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Bardem was in talks to portray a character named El Macho, who has a son called Machito. Reasons for his departure from the project have not been disclosed.

Despicable Me was released in 2010, starring Steve Carell, Russell Brand and Jason Segel, all of whom are expected to reprise their roles for the follow-up.
Bardem is currently filming the next James Bond movie Skyfall. The actor is playing the main antagonist in the film, which opens in theatres in October.
Despicable Me 2, directed by Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud, is slated for July 3, 2013.
