Snoop Dogg hosts screening of George Lucas's 'Red Tails'

Snoop Dogg has hosted a private screening of George Lucas's new movie Red Tails.

The rapper held the event at the Arclight in Hollywood for 200 guests in association with Luasfilm, Billboard reports.

Speaking before the screening, Snoop said: "This is a special film. It gives you a real history lesson as to why African-Americans are such an important part of history.

"Tweet, Facebook, spread the word. This movie needs to be seen and talked about."

Those invited to the screening included the film's co-writer Aaron McGruder and cast members Terrence Howard, Marcus Paulk and Tristan Wilds.

Other special guests included rappers Warren G and Dom Kennedy.

Director Lucas recently claimed that he had to self-finance the movie because of a lack of support from Hollywood for a film with an all-black cast.

Red Tails entered the US box office in second place at the weekend with receipts of an estimated $19,100,000, putting it behind Underworld: Awakening with $25,400,000.
