Mia Wasikowska has been confirmed as a special guest at the AACTAs next Tuesday (January 31).

The Australian actress, who is best known for her roles in Jane Eyre and Restless, will reportedly walk the red carpet at Sydney Opera House alongside host Geoffrey Rush.

Other Hollywood stars originally from Australia now believed to be attending the 'Aussie Oscars' include United States of Tara actress Toni Colette and J. Edgar's Naomi Watts.

It was recently revealed that Cate Blanchett, Jacki Weaver, siblings Anthony and Jonathan LaPaglia, Miranda Kerr and Rachael Taylor will present awards at the ceremony.

The AACTA's executive producer John Leahey told The Daily Telegraph that it is crucial to the success of the awards show that big names appear, saying: "We are finding that most Australians working overseas are tremendously open to doing things for the event.

"If someone can't attend it's not for any lack or desire. Everyone has been supportive and we want to set the foundations as high as we can. But of course, scheduling is everything."

It has also been rumoured that Leonardo DiCaprio will make an appearance at the event, as he is apparently due to re-shoot some scenes for The Great Gatsby in Sydney.
