The upcoming film, penned by Adaptation writer Charlie Kaufman, will focus on the rise and fall of a comedian (Nicolas Cage), screenwriter (Steve Carell) and blogger (Jack Black).
The movie will be a dark comedy like much of Kaufman's past work, as well as a musical satire.
Banks will be playing an actress reeling from a series of comedy bombs who becomes romantically involved with Carell's character. Also featured in the ensemble are Catherine Keener, Kevin Kline, and Paul Reubens of Pee-wee Herman fame.
Elizabeth Banks currently stars in the action thriller Man on a Ledge opposite Sam Worthington.
