Mel Gibson returns in 'Get the Gringo' trailer, film to bow on DirecTV

Mel Gibson will make his comeback in action movie Get the Gringo.
Previously titled How I Spent My Summer Vacation, the story sees Gibson take on the role of 'Driver', a criminal who learns to survive in a Mexican prison with the help of a 10-year-old boy.

The movie will sidestep the traditional theatrical release model and debut on VOD, reports Deadline.
DirecTV will premiere Get the Gringo in the US on May 1 at a cost of $10.99 per home viewing. A release on Blu-ray, DVD, VOD and digital download will follow later in the month.
DirecTV's 20 million subscribers have a one-month exclusive viewing window for the film.
Get the Gringo is currently due for a theatrical release in the UK on May 11.
