Gary Oldman has won his first acting award for an individual performance in over two decades for his role in Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.
The 53-year-old, who played protagonist George Smiley in the hit movie, topped the public vote in the 'Best British Film Star' category at the Richard Attenborough Regional Film Awards.

"This is the first prize for acting in a specific performance that I've received in over 20 years and that makes it all the more special," he said in a statement.
His last gong came in 1992 for his starring role in Francis Ford Coppola's Dracula at the Saturn Awards.
Tinker, Tailor screenwriter Peter Straughan, who accepted Oldman's award on his behalf, was the critics' choice for 'Best Screenplay'. His late wife and writing partner Bridget O'Connor shares the award posthumously.
"I'm thrilled that Bridget and I have won this award - especially as it is associated with such a great filmmaker and voted for by so many critics and writers from all around the country," Straughan said. "It means a great deal to me and is a wonderful tribute to my late wife's work."
Oldman's portrayal of spymaster Smiley has also led to an Oscar nod and a BAFTA nomination.
