The Oscar-nominated star of The Help will play a supporting role in the sci-fi adaptation and the lead in the supernatural thriller, reports Variety.
Davis will play a military psychologist in Ender's Game, an adaptation of Orson Scott Card's classic sci-fi novel directed by Gavin Hood.
Asa Butterfield, Harrison Ford, Hailee Steinfeld, Abigail Breslin and Ben Kingsley are among the other actors signed up for the science fiction movie.
Beautiful Creatures is being adapted by Warner Bros and Alcon Entertainment from the first book in a five-novel series by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl.
