Michael Fassbender, Olivia Colman win at Evening Standard Film Awards

Michael Fassbender and Olivia Colman have bagged prestigious prizes at the Evening Standard British Film Awards.
Fassbender won 'Best Actor' for his parts in Shame and Jane Eyre, while Colman went away with the 'Best Actress' gong for her role in Tyrannosaur.


After being presented her trophy by Doctor Who star Matt Smith, Colman said: "This film will be the thing I'm most proud of until I die - apart from my husband."
Lynne Ramsay's thriller We Need to Talk About Kevin won 'Best Film' at the ceremony, while Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 bagged the 'Blockbuster of the Year, People's Choice Award'.


Director Ramsay commented: "It was such a struggle making this movie, a lot of times I thought I'd give up."
Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy actor John Hurt was honoured with a 'Special Award' for his lifetime contribution to cinema.
