'Rango' sweeps Visual Effects Society Awards

Johnny Depp's animated Western picked up four gongs at the Beverly Hills event, including 'Outstanding Visual Effects in an Animated Feature' and 'Outstanding Animated Character in an Animated Feature'.
Hugo, Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Transformers: Dark of the Moon came away with two awards each, while Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones equalled the feat in the Television categories.
Spider-Man co-creator Stan Lee received the 'Lifetime Achievement Award' at the show and visual effects mastermind Douglas Trumbull picked up the 'Georges Méliès Award'.
Patton Oswalt hosted the event at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in California. Antonio Banderas, Lou Ferrigno, Chris Miller, Marc Webb and Jennifer Yuh Nelson were on hand to present the prizes.
Martin Scorsese made a special appearance to accept the awards for his critically-acclaimed Hugo.
