The studio has decided not to move forward with the big-screen adaptation of John Milton's classic poem, according to Deadline.
Production on the film was previously postponed. The film was expected to begin shooting in January, but the start date was pushed back to the summer in December.
The film had collected a number of big-name stars, including Bradley Cooper, Benjamin Walker, Casey Affleck, Djimon Hounsou and Rufus Sewell.
Director Alex Proyas described the film as "a family saga, about a group of brothers, two in particular, who are on divergent paths, and Lucifer's feelings of betrayal by his father and family that forge his descent into evil".
The movie was expected to arrive in cinemas by the end of 2013.
