Hammer returns to the big screen today (February 10) with the release of Daniel Radcliffe's chilling ghost story The Woman in Black.
The studio, which was revived in 2007 by John De Mol, has a formidable horror legacy, having produced Christopher Lee's Dracula films, The Curse of Frankenstein and The Hound of the Baskervilles, seen by many as the definitive take on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes tale.
To celebrate this week's new Hammer film, the firm's Nic Ransome very kindly took us on a whistle-stop tour of classics from the Hammer archives.

The Quatermass Xperiment (1955): "Hammer's first horror film was adapted from the landmark BBC serial by Nigel Kneale. The film was so successful that Hammer immediately commissioned a follow-up: X: The Unknown. Kneale went on to write four scripts for Hammer as well as penning the story (uncredited) for Halloween 3: Season Of The Witch at the request of John Carpenter."
