The film, which stars Hoult as a zombie named R who falls in love with a girl after eating the brains of her boyfriend, was scheduled for an August 10 release in the US.
Variety reports that Summit Entertainment has moved the movie's release to February 1, 2013, in a bid to avoid competition from the Will Ferrell comedy Dog Fight and Meryl Streep drama Great Hope Springs.
The movie has been directed by Jonathan Levine, known for his work on the Golden Globe-nominated 50/50. Theresa Palmer stars opposite Hoult as the love interest.
Summit recently released exclusive set photos from Warm Bodies, featuring Nicholas Hoult in zombie makeup.
There is no word yet on whether the UK release date of August 24 will also change.
