The actress was confirmed for Skyfall in October after first being tipped for the role a month earlier.
Speaking to Absolute Radio at last night's BAFTAs, Marlohe said: "It's a very significant change. Absolutely. In terms of career and exposure it's very significant."
The actress was at the ceremony with her Skyfall co-star Naomie Harris to present the 'Outstanding British Film' prize, which was won by by Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.
Of working with Daniel Craig, Harris added: "It's amazing working with Daniel, he's so down to earth. He's such a hard worker.
"After every day of filming he does two hours of training. So the man is incredible and an inspiration to us both."
