Uggie - the dog who starred in The Artist - will not be allowed to attend the 84th annual Academy Awards.
A spokesperson for The Artist's producer the Weinstein Company confirmed that Uggie will have to watch the Oscars from home, rather than joining co-stars Jean Dujardin and Berenice Bejo on the red carpet.

"Uggie has not been asked to participate or appear at the Oscars," the Weinstein Company rep told Reuters.
A source has also denied that Uggie will appear in a pre-taped skit with Oscars host Billy Crystal.
The Jack Russell Terrier has become a media sensation following the release of The Artist. He has appeared on numerous talkshows and an unsuccessful Facebook campaign was even launched to get Uggie nominated for an Oscar.
The Artist has received ten Academy Award nominations, including a nod for Dujardin as 'Best Actor' and Bejo in the 'Best Supporting Actress' category. The movie is nominated for 'Best Picture' and director Michel Hazanavicius has also been recognised by the Academy.
The 2012 Academy Awards will be held on Sunday, February 26 at Hollywood's Kodak Theatre.
