'John Carter' sequel 'already being written'

Director Andrew Stanton and his John Carter screenplay co-author Michael Chabon are already working on the sequel, reports ComingSoon.net.
The project is tentatively called John Carter: The Gods of Mars.
It is based on Edgar Rice Burroughs's second John Carter novel, which was first serialised in 1913.

Walt Disney Pictures are yet to greenlight a second movie, and are not expected to until the release of the first.
The film will star Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins, Samantha Morton, Ciaran Hinds, Dominic West, James Purefoy, Mark Strong, Daryl Sabara, Polly Walker, Bryan Cranston, Thomas Hayden Church and Willem Dafoe.
John Carter will open in the UK and US on March 9.
