Jimmy Palmiotti and Phil Noto's comic book miniseries, which debuted in 2005, is a sci-fi Western published by the now defunct Black Bull Entertainment.
A synopsis for the book reads: "Our story begins with a disgraced former Los Angeles Police detective Daniel Wise, who endures a near future deserted hostile LA environment where the Mayor has now been kidnapped and Daniel Wise is the only one who can save him, but can he do it with just a horse and sword?"
Gareb Shamus will produce the adaptation for Benderspink with Chris Bender, JC Spink and Jake Weiner, though cast and crew are yet to be appointed, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Palmiotti, who is currently co-writing All-Star Western for DC Comics, has had work adapted as film and television projects in the past. The 2005 TV movie Painkiller Jane and its spinoff series were based on one of his original creations.
The New West is yet to be assigned a start date.
