The Galaxy Quest director will helm the action comedy sequel, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman and John Malkovich are expected to reprise their roles in the second film.
RED focused on a group of former CIA operatives who are classified as "retired [and] extremely dangerous".
It was based on the three-issue DC Comics miniseries by Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner.

Parisot's most recent feature film was 2005's Jim Carrey-starring Fun with Dick and Jane.
He has also directed episodes of TV shows including Justified, The Good Wife, Modern Family and Curb Your Enthusiasm.
Filming on RED 2 is expected to begin later this year, with its release anticipated on August 2, 2013.
The script for the sequel has been written by Jon and Erich Hoeber, who penned the first movie.
