Orlando Bloom has reportedly been cast in Zulu.

He will team with Djimon Hounsou on the Jerome Salle-directed thriller, according to Screen Daily.

It centres around two South African policemen investigating the murder of a high-profile rugby player's teenage daughter.

Bloom is due to star in the upcoming financial thriller Cities and will reprise his role as Legolas in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in December.

Hounsou was due to appear in Paradise Lost before the project was shelved.

He has recently appeared in French war thriller Forces spéciales (Special Forces) and played assassin Curtie Church in action movie Elephant White.

Salle (Anthony Zimmer, The Burma Conspiracy) is working with frequent co-writer Julien Rappeneau on the adaptation of Caryl Ferey's novel.

Shooting on Zulu is due to begin in Cape Town in July.
