The untitled movie recounts the black ops offensive that resulted in the death of the Al-Qaeda leader.
Bigelow will reteam with screenwriter Mark Boal on the movie. The pair previously collaborated on the Oscar-winning military film The Hurt Locker.
Entertainment Weekly reports that Edgerton will star as a Navy seal in the Bin Laden venture, while Ehle's role has not been disclosed.
Jason Clarke, Chris Pratt, Jessica Chastain, Joel Edgerton, Mark Strong, Édgar Ramírez, and Kyle Chandler will also appear in the movie.
Joel Edgerton previously told Digital Spy that it was important for Bigelow to allow "history to settle" before pushing ahead with the project.
The untitled Bin Laden movie is expected to begin shooting soon for a late 2012 release.
