The Help actress, who is nominated for an Academy Award for 'Best Actress' for her portrayal of Aibileen Clark, revealed that she tries not to get too caught up in the hype surrounding the awards show.
"I pray. I pray and I meditate to remind me of my larger purpose in life," Davis told Access Hollywood.
"It's like they say, when you're driving and you have blind focus, that's when you get in accidents more," she added."It's the same thing with life.
"When you have blind focus on that gold statue [it] can get you into such a wreck in terms of your larger purpose in life. So, I pray."
Meryl Streep recently admitted that she wants Davis to win the 'Best Actress' Academy Award at tonight's (February 26) ceremony.
Earlier this month, Davis revealed that her mother has not yet seen The Help, adding that her mother may find the film painful, as she worked as a maid in segregated South Carolina.
