Disney has released a new video clip for John Carter.
The ten-minute scene for the upcoming movie shows how the story begins with the central character, a former military captain, trying to escape imprisonment from a rival cavalry and ending up in a Western-style horse chase.
Disney previously released a five-minute video showing Taylor Kitsch's eponymous hero and Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe) facing a White Ape in an arena battle.
John Carter is based on the classic novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs. It centres on an American Civil War veteran who is transported to Mars, called Barsoom by its inhabitants, and finds himself caught up in a battle for the planet's freedom. Carter, who is still mourning the loss of his wife, falls for Princess of Helium Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins).
The star-studded cast also features Brit actors Dominic West, James Purefoy, Mark Strong, Samantha Morton and Ciaran Hinds.
A sequel from director Andrew Stanton and his John Carter screenplay co-writer Michael Chabon is reported to already be in the works under the title John Carter: The Gods of Mars.
John Carter will debut in the UK and US on March 9.
