The movie is a heist comedy telling the true story of the theft of Nicolas Cage's rare Action Comics No. 1 comic book, the first Superman comic.

The comic went missing in 2000, and was recovered eleven years later in an abandoned storage locker. It later sold for $2.1 million.

Action No.1 will revolve around a group of comic book fans who create a complex plan to steal the rare comic from Cage.

It is unclear whether or not Cage will in fact be playing himself in the movie.

Cage recently starred in another comic book-inspired film, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.
