Mark Wahlberg has promised that his forthcoming basketball film with Justin Bieber will be "worth the wait".

The Contraband actor, who announced his project with Bieber in April 2011, admitted that the process of securing a completed screenplay has been slow going.

"We're waiting for the script. Waiting for the script. Every time I see [Bieber] or [his manager Scooter Braun], I have to explain to them that it's a bit of a process having the script written," Wahlberg explained to MTV News.

"It certainly [has to be] something that's good enough to go and have green-lit and make right away. But I think it will be well worth the wait."

Wahlberg has previously said that working with the 17-year-old 'Never Say Never' singer was "intuitive" and that the collaboration between the pair was a natural one.

He recently praised Bieber's basketball skills, describing him as "incredible" on the court.
